Building the Bridge to the General Education System Through SEIT

We support children with special needs in their mainstream educational settings to enable every child to fulfill their potential in the least restrictive educational environment

Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT) Services

Our SEIT program teachers work with children in their mainstream educational programs, day care settings or in their homes.
This enables our special education teachers to collaborate with mainstream preschool teachers and other professionals involved with the children’s development, as well as with parents and other caregivers.

Pendency Services

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) has provisions in place to prevent the disruption of a child’s education when a child’s caregivers and school district have not agreed on a child’s Individual Education Program (IEP).
Like our SEIT program, our Pendency program teachers work with children in their mainstream educational programs, homes or other appropriate settings to maintain the child’s last agreed-to IEP or, when applicable, the final decision of an impartial hearing proceeding.
"When nothing was working your SEIT came up with plans that all of the teachers and us at home followed that helped him so much."
Parent.
"Our son has sensory processing disorder and your SEIT helped explain this to his teachers and was constantly putting in place strategies that even the therapist followed. She helped him to be able to focus and participate in classroom activities."
Parent.
"NYCCD has done a wonderful job of passing the information and suggestions on to the related service providers so our child could have a level of consistent learning for them across all areas."
Parent.
